* Where there is a recommendation of more than 180 kg of phosphate and 220 kg of potash, to avoid salt problems it is considered best to apply the additional amounts as a separate application rather than in bands at planting time.

HR, MR, LR, RR, and NR denote, respectively, high, medium, low, rare and no probabilities of profitable crop response to applied nutrient.
