New Videos

Learn from the experiences of five young farmers who are managing successful value-added enterprises on their farm.

The enterprises include on-farm bakeries, dairies, market garden and pick your own operations. Each video interview is approximately four minutes long.

Proposed Learning Objectives:

As a result of participation participants will be able to:

  • Generate potential value-added ideas for their farms
  • Select the most promising potential value-added idea
  • Assess the potential value-added idea through a business framework of marketing, production, financing, and human resources criteria which includes identifying input needs resources available, costs, risks and regulations
  • Assess the farm team members capacity and enthusiasm for developing value-added ideas
  • Understand the issues and information needed to begin the development of a business plan (participants do not complete an actual business plan at this workshop)
  • Identify value-added information resources available to them
