Growing Forward is a commitment by Canada's federal, provincial and territorial governments to support the development of a profitable, innovative agri-food sector that is adept at managing risk and responsive to market demands.

More Effective and Responsive Programs

We are committed to developing and delivering programs under Growing Forward to improve competitiveness and sustainability for agriculture and agri-food businesses.

Growing Forward builds on the Agricultural Policy Framework, which it replaces, but provides new opportunities to strengthen competitiveness. In Ontario, the new Growing Forward initiative offers:

  • The Best Practices Suite
Flexibility is the key for all programs in the Best Practices Suite. Programs offer a variety of information sessions and workshops, as well as one-on-one training and technical assistance, to help participants develop strategies to meet their business goals.

  • The Innovation and Science Suite
The Innovation and Science Suite accelerates commercialization by encouraging innovation and the adoption of new on-farm technologies.

Partnering for Success

Stakeholder consultation was key in developing Growing Forward programs and continues to be a critical element in their success. The federal and provincial governments continue to engage industry partners in program development and delivery.

We are working with agri-food organizations like the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association and Agricultural Adaptation Council to deliver Growing Forward. Strong partnerships like these ensure that Growing Forward programs provide the tools the sector needs to succeed.
