Growing Forward

Food Safety and Traceability

We are helping the sector respond to heightened consumer awareness of food safety by supporting the adoption of practices that enhance food safety on farms and in the food and beverage processing industry.

We are also helping producers and processors respond to market demands, and improve product tracking, by supporting facility-level traceability systems.

There are two components to the Food Safety and Traceability Program:

  • Food Safety and Traceability Education (FSTE) supports the implementation of FSTI by funding sector-level education and outreach activities that promote the adoption of food safety and traceability best practices to Ontario producers and processors. The Agriculture Adaptation Council will deliver this program.

Growing Forward is a commitment by Canada's federal, provincial and territorial governments to support the development of and implementation of best practices in four key areas: Environment and Climate Change; Food Safety and Traceability; Business Development; and Biosecurity. Participants are encouraged to develop strategies to meet their business goals through a variety of information sessions and workshops as well as one-on-one training and technical assistance.
