Napropamide
Trade Name: Devrinol
Group 15
Site of Action: Conjugation of acetyl co-enyme A
Symptoms
Following PPI application:
- Seedlings usually fail to emerge
- If a seedling does emerge, napropamide causes its roots to be knobby (short and thick)
- Lateral root growth is inhibited and the root tips become necrotic
- Because of poor root function, plants lack vigour and appear pale with purple veins and stems
- Strawberry runner rooting may be inhibited
Uptake and Translocation
- Absorbed through the roots of germinating weeds
- Translocated upward through seedling
Persistence
- Injury may be observed in fall cover crops
- Deep ploughing will minimize any carryover effect
