Site of Action: Inhibitors of photosynthesis at photosystem II, Site A
Symptoms
Following PRE emergent application:
- Susceptible weed seedlings emerge
- 2- 5 days later they undergo chlorosis and necrosis
- At this stage, the seedlings are often so small they may not be noticed
Following POST emergent application:
- Chlorosis and necrosis are visible between leaf veins
Uptake and Translocation
- Some uptake through the foliage but the major route is via the roots
- Translocation upwards in the xylem
Persistence
- Varies with the climate
- Half-life: 1- 2 months
