Site of Action: Microtubule assembly inhibitors

Symptoms

Following PRE emergent application:

  • Seedlings usually fail to emerge

Following POST emergent application:

  • The growth of roots (specifically lateral and secondary roots) is inhibited causing the roots to be thick and short
  • There may be swelling and discolouration (purple) at the base of grasses
  • The hypocotyl of broadleaves may swell

Uptake and Translocation

  • No significant absorption or translocation of trifluralin in crops grown in soil treated with trifluralin

Persistence

  • Succeeding crops will not be injured under normal conditions
