Test Your Knowledge - Sweet Corn

Large pale green larvae with a prominent double stripe running the length of its body

You find this larvae on an ear of sweet corn. It is 3.7 cm (1 1/2 in.) long with a double stripe running the length of its body. There are no apparent entry holes. Can you identify this insect pest?

That's right!

Sorry.

This is a picture of a corn earworm larvae. It is not a European corn borer, who can grow up to 2.5 cm (1 in.) but not as big as the corn earworm (3.7 cm, 1 ½ in.). The double stripe running along its body should tip you off that it is not a Fall armyworm either, who have 1 solid stripe.
