Chimera is a genetic abnormality that can be confused with other diseases or disorders of onions. Chimera in onion plants results in leaf variegations - patterns of white to yellow intermixed with green. Because this is a genetic abnormality, all leaves usually have a similar pattern; however, occassionally one or two leaves may be affected.
