Brown Bead of Broccoli
This physiological disease is usually associated with rapid growth caused by high temperatures following periods of abundant rainfall or irrigation. Florets or floral buds turn tan to brown in colour and usually drop off.
Cultivar susceptibility is variable. To manage this disorder: maintain a constant water supply and nutrient level; avoid injury caused by mechanical means such as sandblasting; minimize insect and disease injury.
