Wind Damage and Sand Abrasion
Wind damage and sand blasting can damage spears, resulting in the formation of brown scars, as well as twisted or bent spears. Both a light frost and wind damage may cause the spears to “hook” into the direction of the prevailing wind.
Microscopic wounds caused by sand often provide an entry point for pathogens such as Stemphylium.
