Leaves on many terminals are aggressively chewed and many branches are defoliated.
Silken tents are present in the central crotches of the trees in the spring.
Dirty white webbing in the outer regions of the branches during mid-summer or later. Leaves are stripped and fruit is damaged.
Leaves are discoloured (purple or red), thick and tightly curled inward towards the mid vein; they eventually turn brown and brittle and drop.
The entire leaf is consumed except for the main veins and petiole with damage occurring in the upper third of the canopy initially.
